Making sure your business is secure when you aren’t there is something you need to take seriously as it isn’t just intruders you need to be aware of, its been shown recently that in some work places staff steal more than actual shop lifters. There are some products you can buy and install in your business premises to make it more secure not only against intruders but also to stop any staff members that are willing to betray your trust some of these products are:
Where as homes have monitored alarm systems that just inform you of when the alarm is set off you can purchase systems for your business that can let you know exactly when the alarm was unarmed and when it was armed again. You can also programme the alarm so that if you only want the shop, office building etc. to be unarmed and open between certain times, for example 9 – 5, then you can set it so if the alarm is disarmed before this time you will be contacted to let you know. As well as this you can get either weekly or monthly reports of when the alarm has been set and when it’s been disarmed, who it was that did it and the exact time and date.- You can have a system set up where if you have a store room that you want to have limited access to (for example if you ran a pharmacy, you may want the drugs store to have limited access) you can have a card system applied or even a password lock fitted to the door meaning only certain people can access it. They can do this by either fitting a new door entirely or just building a partition with access restrictions before the actual door.
- You can also have a cage system built around the front of the building that has a keypad for the code to be entered to unlock it. Then in this caged section is the actual entrance door to the building, this provides extra security as they would have to over come this section before even reaching the entrance. These kind of precautions are usually taken where the property holds some valuable equipment such as computers or tools.
Many larger companies have alarm systems that are part of a monitored system where by if the alarm was to be set off due to an intruder they will receive a signal letting them know and they can then contact the local authorities in your area and have them inspect the property and inform you of the events.
For businesses it is highly important they take all safety measures they can to prevent entrance to their property because for example if the company worked with expensive tools not only will they have lost the money from the tools but also they wouldn’t be able to carry out their work until the tools were replaced, so in turn would be losing money through custom as well.
